Sports Massage

Sports massage is the management, manipulation and rehabilitation of soft tissues of the body including muscles, tendons and ligaments. Sports massage is ideal for treating sports injuries as well as a preventative treatment and deals with the health of muscle and connective tissue, range of movement, tone, symmetry, balance of muscle and quality of posture.

Sports Massage may help to alleviate the tension and stress of sports-related injuries and assist in the prevention of injury before and after a sporting event. We use soft tissue massage and stretching, trigger-point therapy, kinesio taping, and exercise prescription as part of your treatment.

It is not only limited to sportspersons, but for anyone who enjoys an active lifestyle. So whatever your chosen activity may be, massage can certainly help.

Remedial Massage

Massage is a natural therapy that has been practised for thousands of years. While many machines and instruments have been developed to aid treatment of the musculoskeletal system, the benefits of hands-on care continue to be recognised and massage remains as popular today as it has ever been.

Remedial massage is the use of hands to manipulate soft tissues of the body, particularly muscles. It can be used for relaxation or stimulation of the body, and is particularly effective in managing stress-related tension. Massage may help to promote suppleness, aid flexibility, and stimulate circulation.

A number of massage techniques can be utilised but the emphasis is on providing a professional massage to aid both deep and superficial soft tissues. We have a calm, relaxed facility in which massage is undertaken. Sessions are usually scheduled for 30, 45minutes, or 1 hour.

Kinesio Taping

The goals of kinesiology taping are to improve circulation, support muscles, foster healing, and help prevent injury or further injury.

Five of the top benefits of using this method are:

  1. Decreased Pain: By gently applying pressure, kinesiology tape helps to disrupt and dissipate pain.
  2. Increased Circulation and Decreased Inflammation: The tape can help remove congestion while allowing efficient circulation of oxygenated blood and lymphatic fluids. Circulation flushes out irritants, thereby reducing inflammation and chemical buildup and fostering a speedy recovery.
  3. Improved Posture and Muscle Support: Taping areas that veer away from correct posture can help gently support proper posture. Proper taping also enables weak muscles to function efficiently, reduces pain and fatigue, and protects against cramping, over-extension, and over-contraction.
  4. Improved Athletic Performance: By supporting unstable joints and delivering slight pressure to “sleeping” muscles, taping can prompt higher performance. Unlike other assistive devices that can lead to dependence on them for stability and support, kinesiology tape trains the body to become independent and efficient.
  5. Supported endogenous analgesic system: The tape enables the body’s own healing mechanisms to work in the recovery process. (“Endogenous” means “internal,” and “analgesic” means “relieving pain.”)

Hot Stone Massage

This popular thermal stone massage is a delightfully relaxing and serene treatment using warm basalt stones to massage the body from head-to-toe.

It’s a wonderfully warming treatment that works on energy points located throughout the body to rebalance and harmonise. The muscles are relaxed and rejuvenated in a sensation totally unique to hot stone massage.

The gentle pressure from the stones, along with the accompanying massage, has the effect of wiping out tension and literally making you feel like you’re walking on air.

Hot stone massage is different from other types of massage because it uses smooth, heated stones. These are usually Basalt river rocks, simply because they don’t have any jagged edges and they are at just the right weight to add the perfect amount of pressure.

These stones are also very effective at heating up and holding their heat for the duration of the treatment.
